Job summary

AtkinsRéalis seeks a seasoned engineer to lead technical and commercial interfaces on large nuclear projects. You will participate in safety/control system conceptual design, define requirements, evaluate vendor products, and drive V&V activities.

You will manage schedules and budgets, prepare change requests, and develop tools for testing safety-critical software using languages including IEC61131-3, C/C++, LabVIEW, XML, and Visual Studio.

Qualifications

  • Honours degree in a relevant field of engineering from a university of recognized standing.
  • Professional Engineering license preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in nuclear power generation or related industries.
  • Experience with industry/international I&C/software standards is asset.
  • Strong background in computer hardware is asset.
  • Demonstrate good technical and problem-solving capabilities with practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prime technical and commercial interface with client and internal teams on large, complex projects.

  • Evaluate vendor products and prepare procedures for integration into design, development, and V&V.
  • Manage assigned work including schedule, budget, and reporting to meet goals.
  • Prepare system/software change requests for modifications to existing systems.
  • Develop tools for test/development systems for safety-critical software production.
  • Perform software engineering tasks: requirements, design, coding, verification, testing, documentation.
  • Assist planning activities for design, verification and testing of safety/control systems.
  • Develop software/scripts using IEC61131-3 languages, C, C++, Visual Studio, LabVIEW, XML.
  • Test script development using in-house scripting languages for V&V testing.
  • Update design documents including SRS/SDD and software manuals.
  • Interface with engineers, suppliers, and other divisions within the company.

Job Description Overview

The Computer Systems Engineering department is responsible for digital instrumentation and control equipment for projects involving control, monitoring, and operator displays in the nuclear island for our existing customers and new builds. The department is responsible for digital system design, equipment selection and procurement, and all software activities.

Your role
  • Responsible for prime technical and commercial interface with the client and internal engineering and commercial groups on projects of substantial scale and complexity.
  • Participate in conceptual design of safety/control systems to define system requirements, computer system architecture/design, product /tool technologies and evaluate system performance and reliability.
  • Evaluate computer vendor products and prepare procedures/guides for implementing such products into computer software design, development and V&V processes.
  • Manage assigned work effectively, including prioritizing, executing, managing schedule and budget and reporting to meet project goals.
  • Preparation of system/software change request for modifications to existing systems/software.
  • Prepare requirements and develop tools for test/development systems as needed for production of safety critical software.
  • Execute software engineering tasks including software requirements specification, software design description, coding, verification, testing and documentation.
  • Assist in planning activities associated with design, verification and testing of computerized safety/control systems.
  • Develop software and scripts using a variety of programming languages/toolsets/environments including, but not limited to IEC61131-3 languages, C C++ Visual Studio, Labview, XML.
  • Test script development using in-house developed scripting languages for software/system V&V testing.
  • Update and/or prepare computer engineering design documents including SRS/SDD and software manuals.
  • Interface with various engineering disciplines, suppliers, and other divisions within the company.
About you
