Plant Controller
Location: Trois Rivieres, Quebec, Canada
General Description
This position is responsible for accounting functions at the assigned plant, including month-end close, analysis, accounts payable and receivable, SOX compliance, and general administrative support. The Plant Controller reports directly to the Divisional Controller and indirectly to the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Manage accounts payable entries and weekly check runs.
- Post cash, manage collections, and analyze accounts receivable.
- Analyze and record accruals.
- Review inventory movements, including job costs, PPV, and conduct annual physical inventory.
- Prepare and upload plant reporting packages into SAP.
- Handle monthly tax reporting.
- Reconcile sales, bank accounts, and balance sheets monthly.
- Prepare cost reports.
- Maintain records and reconcile various accounts using computerized bookkeeping systems.
- Post entries to the general ledger and perform reconciliations.
- Manage office supplies, equipment, and janitorial staff as the office manager.
- Supervise accounting assistants and office staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience.
- 7-10 years of relevant experience; manufacturing experience preferred.
- Fluent in English and French.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of standard accounting systems and manufacturing variances.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
- Ability to present financial results clearly.
