Grey Sauble Conservation Authority is seeking to fill the position of Planning & Regulations
Administrative Assistant. This is a two-year contract position with the possibility of extension.

Grey Sauble Conservation Authority (GSCA) is one of Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities
dedicated to protecting, restoring and enhancing our local natural environment. GSCA is a
community-based environmental agency which owns and manages 11,734 hectares (28,995
acres) of some of the most scenic and environmentally sensitive lands in Ontario. For over 65
years, GSCA has been offering local renewable natural resource programs and services to its
watershed municipalities and landowners. We care for the five major watersheds and several
lake fringe watersheds within Grey and Bruce Counties. We are inspired to make a difference,

Summary of Functions

Reporting directly to the Manager of Environmental Planning, this position is involved in
assisting the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Planning Department by providing
front-line customer service, maintaining file management systems, data entry, formatting and
reporting on departmental statistics, assisting with invoicing, fee processing, and providing
additional support and backfilling for GSCA’s Administrative Assistant.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation from a recognized college program in administration (typically two-year
    program). A diploma in planning or other related discipline or an equivalent level of
    knowledge and skills acquired through work experience will also be considered.
  • Proficiency with using email, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat or PDF
    Exchange Editor.
  • Knowledge of document management software and payment systems.
  • Familiarity with the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), development plans,
    property survey and mapping.
  • Basic understanding of the role and mandate of Conservation Authorities.
  • Demonstrated tact, good judgement and effective communication skills.
  • First Aid certification and possession of a valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License are
    considered assets.

SUMMARY OF MAJOR TASKS

  • Administrative support for day-to-day operations of the Environmental Planning Department.
  • Provide front-line customer service responding to inquiries, phone calls, emails and in-person walk ins.
  • Screen and respond to incoming real estate agent and property clearances.
  • Assist with invoicing, payments and fee tracking.
  • Provide backfill and support for GSCA’s Administrative Assistant as necessary and/or
    requested.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position works 35 hours, Monday to Friday at the GSCA Administration Head Office with
occasional evenings and weekends required. Please note, our office has relocated temporarily
while the Head Office is under renovation. The temporary working location is 901 3rd Avenue
East, Suite 215, City of Owen Sound (above the Post Office). Renovations are expected to be
