West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Our Smithers division in BC is currently recruiting for a full-time Planning Forester.

You'll Do:

• Perform timber reconnaissance
• Design roads and cut blocks
• Administer and supervise contracts (layout, cruising, and site assessments)
• Liaise with the Government and Indigenous Peoples
• Consult stakeholders
• Incorporate social and cultural values into harvest area designs
• Prepare and submit appraisals and cutting/road permit applications
• Develop Site Plans

You have:

• A degree or diploma in forestry, with registration or eligibility for registration with Forest Professionals BC
• Relevant experience in planning activities such as cruising, block layout, and site plan preparation (preferred)
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
• A self-motivated attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Familiarity with ArcGIS and information management systems (asset)
• Knowledge of the appraisal system and timber cruising processes (asset)
• A current class 5 driver’s license
