Job summary

West Fraser in Williams Lake, BC is seeking a Planning Coordinator to join our forestry team. Based in Williams Lake, you will work with a team of forest professionals on timber development activities, balancing field and office work in a Williams Lake setting.

You’ll conduct timber reconnaissance, permit development, contract oversight, and liaise with First Nations, government and the public, integrating wildlife and cultural values into harvest designs and site plans.

Qualifications

• Registered Forest Professional (RPF or RFT) or eligibility for registration with Forest Professionals BC.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and responsible forest stewardship.
• Current Class 5 driver’s license.
• >2 years of planning experience (block/road layout, site plan, cutting permits, appraisal prep).
• Strong interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills.
• Positive attitude; able to work independently and in a team.

Based in Williams Lake, and reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Planning Coordinator will work within a team of forest professionals responsible for all timber development activities. Within this role, there is opportunity to enjoy a balanced mix of field and office work while living in the Williams Lake area.

You’ll Do:

• Cutting permit and road permit development, appraisal submissions
• Contract administration and supervision
• Liaise with First Nations, government and the public
• Incorporation of wildlife, social and cultural values into harvest area designs
• Development of site plans and other operational plans

You have:

• A registered Forest Professional (RPF or RFT) or eligibility for registration with Forest Professionals BC
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and responsible forest stewardship
• A current class 5 driver’s license
• >2 years of relevant experience in planning activities such as block and road layout, site plan, cutting permit and appraisal preparation is preferred
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
• A positive attitude with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment

• Competitive base salary with an annual bonus opportunity. The typical salary range for this position is $80,000, and $111,000, may vary depending on education and relevant experience.
