Position: Planner-Network

Location: Regina or Saskatoon, SK

Number of Positions: 1

Salary: $86,109 - $114,811 (Based on education and experience)

Type of Position: Permanent Full Time

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Responsible for the strategic direction of the Network Business Plan and leadership of the Integrated Concept Plan. Develops integrated network architecture plans using appropriate technologies for the economic and orderly installation, extension, and rearrangement of the SaskTel Radio Access Network. Leads & coaches team members to achieve workgroup objectives. The core competency of this position is Telephone/Voice/IP Multimedia Subsystem /Telephony Application Server.

Specific Accountabilities
  • Leads review of corporate planning information (e.g., strategic plans, policy programs, marketing directives) and network information (e.g., traffic capacity reports and forecasts) to determine future service offerings and evaluate existing network elements for cost-effectiveness, obsolescence, and service delivery issues.
  • Evaluates new technology options for suitability to deliver future services and network requirements, including migration to new technologies and removal of older ones, in conjunction with vendor presentations and standards recommendations.
  • Develops, maintains, and delivers network architecture plans for projects or initiatives, considering access, wireline, and wireless networks. Communicates technology timing and direction post-approval to relevant teams.
  • Provides input into the development of strategic plans by offering costing models and service impact analyses. Assists and guides other staff within the workgroup.
  • Initiates & coordinates input into capital and operating budgets and conducts economic evaluations as needed.
  • Participates in special projects as required by various departments and external partners.
  • Trains & mentors planning team members, sharing expertise in technologies & network evolution.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of current and emerging technologies and their application to SaskTel's network.
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Electronic Information Systems Engineering OR a Technical Institute diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology with three years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of digital transmission, multiplexing, data communications, switching, access technologies, LAN/WAN, networking, IP/Multimedia protocols, and Network Management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Experience in conducting and analyzing economic studies.

This position is on-site at the specified locations. Candidates must be located within Saskatchewan or willing to relocate. Flexible work options may be available.
