Job summary

SPECTRAFORCE Canada is seeking an experienced Project Controls professional for major projects in Toronto. The role focuses on planning, scheduling, and controls with Primavera P6, handling projects over $50MM/year and multi-year scopes.

You will lead scheduling activities, interpret issues, and propose best practices. Travel to sites within 100km biweekly is expected; strong leadership and independent work are valued.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree and P.Eng. (or equivalent).

Job description

Work Mode: Mon/Tues/Thurs onsite work in the Toronto office and Wed/Fri working remotely

Duration: 1 year

Pay Rate: $50.00/hr on T4

Competency Demonstration:

• Seen as a Project Controls expert across the Major Projects department.
• Can troubleshoot specific controls issues related to scheduling and make applicable changes.

Decision Making:

• Capable of making sound judgments, which are reviewed, but are usually acceptable as accurate and feasible.
• Considers project impact and effects of decision/solutions.

Supervision:

• Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities, and critical areas that impinge on the work of other units.
• Work is carried out under broad guidelines, but informed guidance is available.

Leadership Authority:

• Assigns and outlines work if applicable; advice on problems; reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy.

Duties/Technical Expertise:

• Assigned to projects of more than $50MM/year with multiyear duration with an extreme level of complexity.
• Expert user of Primavera P6 software.
• Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in project planning and scheduling.
• Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
• Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
• Ability to give clear direction and support to Project Execution personnel.
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills/facilitation.

Education / Experience:

• Post-secondary education; Engineering P.Eng. (or its equivalent).
• 7-10 years of work experience, including 2+ years of relevant construction or project experience.
• Must be a proven high performer, based on prior performance reviews.
• Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
• Driver's abstract is required since there is a requirement to travel to construction sites that the individual supports. Most would be within 100km of the Chatham office location. The expectation is to be on site one to two days biweekly. Mileage and expenses will be reimbursed.
