We are seeking a Plan Communications Analyst to join our team in VICTORIA, British Columbia, Canada.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Plan Communications, the Plan Communications Analyst plays a pivotal role in shaping and supporting strategic communications initiatives for plan boards. This position provides expert guidance and insight on complex, cross-functional issues and deliverables, with a strong emphasis on strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and thought leadership.
The Analyst is responsible for developing and executing high-impact communication strategies, conducting comprehensive research and analysis on internal and external trends—particularly within the evolving pension landscape—and translating insights into actionable recommendations. These findings inform decision-making at the board level and across internal teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and stakeholder expectations.
This role is ideal for a communications professional who thrives in a dynamic, analytical environment and is passionate about driving strategic outcomes through clear, compelling, and data-informed communication.
Hybrid Work Model
T his position is located in our Victoria, BC office. You will have the flexibility to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. The requirement for on-campus presence is a minimum of 40% of your schedule in a month.
Additional requirements are determined by the role functions and operational needs of each business area.

Qualifications
Must have
• Bachelor's degree (Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or other relevant and related field) or equivalent experience, education and training may be considered.
• Minimum of five years of experience as a senior communications professional in a relevant industry. Experience must include the following:
o Conducting research, audience analysis and presenting strategic communications and briefings to senior leadership.
o Working with boards and sub-committees.
o Managing multiple projects/assignments.
Nice to have:
• Experience working in the public sector is preferred.
• Experience working in the pension industry is preferred.
• Experience working in a governance environment is preferred.
• Applicants with seven or more years of experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Advanced knowledge of and experience applying general communications principles, concepts and methodologies including issues m management, social media strategies, media relations and media production.
• Demonstrated experience and ability to prepare and draft a variety of communication materials including communications and media relations strategies, issue papers, correspondence, speeches, reports, and presentation materials.
• Strong knowledge and technical understanding of defined benefit pension plans, actuarial and financial analysis, pension plan design and the reputational, media and regulatory environment in which registered pension plans operate.
• Exceptional oral, written, interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to senior audiences including boards.
• Strong reading comprehension and research abilities supporting gathering, interpreting, and synthesizing a diverse volume of complex information.
• Strategic, critical, and timely thinking skills with an ability to anticipate problems and suggest practical, imaginative solutions.
• Ability to collaborate with and foster cooperation among diverse groups of colleagues and teams and reconcile divergent priorities.
• Ability to work independently in a changing, challenging, politically sensitive environment.
• Ability to work respectfully and effectively with large and diverse boards, agents, executive, secretariat/board staff, partners, service providers, regulators and representatives of other pension plans and pension industry organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead communications initiatives and contribute to a culture of strategic thinking.
