Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Mississauga, Ontario, is seeking a Piping Supports Design Engineer to join the Candu Energy engineering team. You will perform stress evaluations of piping supports, develop design documentation, and review 3D models and drawings to ensure code compliance.

Requirements include an engineering degree (mechanical or civil/structure) and P.Eng eligibility in Ontario, with 5–10 years in heavy industrial environments. Hybrid work culture and nuclear-experienced candidates are favored.

Qualifications

  • Experience with piping stress analysis in power or nuclear environments.
  • Familiarity with ASME Section III Div.1, B31.1/ B31.3 and related codes.
  • Ability to review complex drawings and prepare design documentation.
  • Working knowledge of 3D piping models and FEM techniques.
  • Eligibility for security clearances and nuclear program exposure is a plus.

## **Overview**AtkinsRéalis is currently seeking a Piping Supports Design Engineer to join our Candu Energy Inc. engineering team in Mississauga, Ontario.This position requires an individual who is self-motivated and capable of working independently or under the instruction from senior technical engineers. The candidate shall be able to follow the instruction from a qualified professional engineer to complete the assigned mechanical related scopes or tasks and develop necessary engineering design documentation as required.## **Your role***The qualified individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:** Perform stress evaluation of piping systems supports (nuclear class or non-nuclear class) in accordance with ASME Section III, Div.1, Subsection NF and/or ASME B31.1/B31.3, ANSI/MSS SP-58 code requirements, including thermal, fatigue, seismic, linear and non-linear analyses.* Prepare engineering computations and analyses using applicable software (e.g., PipeStress, Cesar II, MathCAD, GT STRUDL, ANSYS, LS-DYNA, etc.).* Model complex piping and support arrangements using finite element techniques.* Review of technical documents and drawings (e.g. equipment General Arrangement drawings, equipment layout drawings, isometrics, pipe supports, flow diagrams and P&ID), calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bill of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, data sheets, etc.* Review 3D piping model and equipment layout.* Prepare technical documents, such as engineering drawings (including GA, ISO, typical or custom pipe support drawings), bill of materials, piping supports calculations, piping supports design/analysis reports, piping supports design basis reports, piping supports design specifications, technical specifications, component data sheets, etc.* Support preparing TSSA CRN registration packages for pressure boundary systems and associated piping supports, where applicable.* Perform visits to client and supplier shops as required. Support field construction and execution activities, as needed (may include site visits).* Perform engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulation requirements.## **About you*** Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Civil & Structure from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required.* Registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (mandatory requirement).* 5-10 years of related work experience in mechanical engineering within a heavy industrial environment such as power, mining, oil & gas, etc. (knowledge of nuclear power systems would be an asset).* Working knowledge of CSA B51, CSA S16, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, ANSI/MSS SP-58, ASME Section VIII, ASCE, NBCC, AISC, and other applicable codes, standards or regulatory guides related to process equipment for power, mining, oil & gas, etc. (knowledge of nuclear power systems codes and regulations such as CSA N285.0, CSA N289, ASME Sec III would be an asset).* Design experience with piping stress analysis for power, mining, oil & gas, etc., (knowledge of nuclear power piping systems stress analysis per ASME III, Div. 1 would be an asset).* Experience in Stress Analysis using PipeStress, AutoPipe, Cesar II, or other similar software program is an asset. Must be able to apply technical principles in a logical and practical manner to resolve engineering issues or technical problems.* Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.*Other Aspects:** Working knowledge of CSA N285.0, CSA N289, CSA N291 and ASME Section III, and other applicable standards or regulatory guides related to nuclear plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems is preferable.* Design engineering experience in nuclear class 1, 2, 3 and 6 piping systems, and its associated supports for Nuclear Power Plants is preferable.* Eligible to obtain Security Clearances through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) is mandatory (for Candu internal and Client organization).* May be required to obtain Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) status, as required by task assignments.
