Job summary

Jobtailor in Alberta is seeking a pipeline technician to perform inspections, troubleshooting, and repair on actuators, valves, and related components, plan isolation and gas handling, and support compressor operations for pipeline pull-downs.

You will conduct purging, loading, bleed-ins, and return-to-service activities, assist with LDAR repairs, enter maintenance data in SAP, and lead small projects while coaching teammates. Frequent travel and on-call rotations may be required.

Qualifications

• Journeyman certification in a trade or two years of post-secondary training
• 2 years of related work experience
• Excellent work safety record and safe work attitude
• Legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based, without restrictions
• Ability to travel to other company locations, estimated up to 70% of the work schedule
• Ability to work extended hours, estimated up to 30% of the work schedule
• Successful completion of pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
• Valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, troubleshooting and repair on actuators, valves, stem seals, and related components
• Plan and lead pipeline isolation, blowdowns, and gas handling activities
• Conduct pipeline purging, loading, bleed-ins, pressurization, and return-to-service activities
• Support operation of transfer compressors for pipeline pull-downs
• Assist with gas leak surveys and in-line inspection programs
• Complete preventative and corrective maintenance and close out work orders
• Enter maintenance data, create notifications, and update job plans in SAP
• Operate and maintain natural gas pipelines and associated equipment
• Read and interpret alignment sheets
• Lead and manage low-complexity projects and coordinate contractor or third-party activities
• Coach, mentor, and train other personnel
• Complete as-built prints and update pipeline schematic documentation
• Identify and manage encroachment issues and unauthorized activities
• Complete LDAR repairs and planned/corrective maintenance
• Ensure facilities and personnel comply with safety, health, environmental, and risk standards
• Operate ATVs, air compressors, generators, and light towers
• Perform tasks from other disciplines and extensive on-the-road work
