Job summary

Company 3 in Toronto, ON (Remote) is seeking a Senior Pipeline Technical Director to design, develop, and maintain production tools and pipeline systems for cutting-edge VFX productions. You will work with artists and TDs in an Agile environment to streamline workflows and reduce bottlenecks.

Ideal candidates will have deep Python production experience, expertise with DCC tools like Nuke, Maya, Silhouette, and experience building CLI/UI tools with Qt/PySide.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Senior Pipeline Technical Director (TD) to join our technical team supporting cutting-edge VFX productions. You’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining tools and systems that streamline workflows and enable artists to do their best work. This is a collaborative position within an Agile team, ideal for someone passionate about solving production challenges with elegant technical solutions. Previous experience working in a VFX studio is essential.

MAIN DUTIES:

The Pipeline TD will collaborate with artists, supervisors, and other TDs to design and build production tools that improve efficiency and reduce repetitive tasks.They will develop andmaintainscalable pipeline systems across departments (rigging, shading, lighting, FX,Roto, Comp, Tracking, etc.), and provide day-to-day technical support to artists, troubleshooting pipeline-relatedissuesand resolving workflow bottlenecks.They will also be responsible for the following:

• Research and recommendnew technologies, workflows, and automation strategies tooptimizeproduction.
• Create clear, user-friendly documentation for tools and pipeline systems.
• Contribute to Agile sprints and communicate progress regularly with the team.

WHAT YOU BRING:

The ideal candidate will be a well-seasoned professional in a VFX or animation studio environment, with strong experience with Python in production environments. They must bring prior working experience designing and maintaining pipeline infrastructure, including package management systems and CI/CD workflows for tool deployment and integration. They also must have prior working experience developing tools for DCC applications such asNuke, Silhouette,Maya,3D Equalizer, etc., and be proficient with Qt/PySidefor building user interfaces. Additional desired skills include:

• Comfortable working on both Windowsand Linuxplatforms.
• Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communicationskills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
• Experience with JavaScript, C++, or web-based tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud-based production environments orrenderpipelines is a plus.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development teams is a plus.
