Job summary

Trans Mountain Corporation is seeking a Pipeline Maintenance Technician to oversee field operations and maintenance of the TMPL integrity program. The role focuses on ensuring effective functioning of field operations, inspections and maintenance activities across TMPL and Puget Sound, with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Journeyman Crane Operation and Heavy Equipment certifications preferred.
  • NACE Coating Inspector I certification preferred.
  • Valid Class 1 drivers license preferred.
  • At least 1 year of progressive experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong communication, organization and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee hot work activities including pipe replacements, hot tapping, stoppling and in-line inspections.
  • Provide oversight of contractors performing anomaly digs and other ground disturbance activities to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Oversee right-of-way vegetation management (RoW clearing and signage).
  • Operate commercial vehicles over 11,000kgs gross vehicle weight and heavy equipment (dozers, excavators, rubber tire hoe).
  • Coordinate civil construction activities (excavation, compaction, backfilling, water handling, rip rap).
  • Coordinate Cathodic Protection asset installation and related civil works.
  • Coordinate facility and ground maintenance and snow removal.
  • Provide emergency response capabilities to right-of-way locations.

Work Setting: Field

Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Pipeline Maintenance Tech. In this position, you will play a key role in being responsible for ensuring effective functioning of the field operations of the pipeline integrity program for TMPL and Puget Sound. The position plays a central role in the completion of field portion of the TMPL integrity program. This position offers the opportunity to perform both pipeline maintenance operational work and inspection duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee hot work activities including pipe replacements, hot tapping, stoppling and in line inspections.
  • Provide oversight of contractors performing anomaly digs and other ground disturbance activities on or near right of ways to ensure compliance with all applicable standards, procedures and regulations.
  • Provides oversight of Trans Mountain right of way vegetation management program (RoW clearing and signage program).
  • Operate commercial vehicles over 11,000kgs gross vehicle weight and heavy equipment (dozers, excavators, rubber tire hoe), while ensuring all equipment follows local laws and regulations.
  • Oversee civil construction activities (excavation, compaction, backfilling, water handling and rip rap armor construction)
  • Coordinate civil construction activities for Cathodic Protection asset installation.
  • Coordinates facility and ground maintenance activities including grounds maintenance and snow removal.
  • Provides emergency response capabilities to right of way locations.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Journeyman Crane Operation and Operation of Heavy Equipment certifications is preferred.
  • NACE Coating Inspector I certification is preferred.
  • A valid class 1 Drivers license would be preferred.
  • At least 1 year of progressive experience.
  • A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.

Working Conditions

  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • May need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on the weekend.
  • Schedule is Monday to Friday.
