Job summary

A leading construction firm is seeking an experienced Pipelayer for its Calgary operations to support underground construction projects. Your responsibilities will include assembling and connecting pipe systems for sewers and watermains, ensuring alignment and collaborating with the crew. Ideal candidates will have experience in roadway construction, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. This role fosters a diverse and inclusive working environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a pipelayer in a roadway construction environment.
• Maintains a valid Class 5 driver’s license or better.
• Own vehicle to get to and from jobsite.
• Maintains a valid Class 5 driver’s license or better; own vehicle to access jobsite.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, connect and construct underground pipe systems for sewers, watermains and drains.
• Align pipes to prepare for welding, cementing or gluing.
• Work in trenches to ensure the ground is prepped and ready for activities.
• Collaborate with the crew and perform duties as assigned by supervisor.

What Is The Opportunity?

At Aecon, people are at the heart of everything we do. Our Calgary Construction Operations group is looking for Pipelayers to support our 2026 Road Construction Underground Crew located in Calgary, Alberta.

What You'll Do Here

• Pipelayers are required to assemble, connect and construct underground pipe systems for sewers, watermains and drains.
• Align pipes to prepare for welding, cementing or gluing, ensuring accuracy with levels and lasers.
• Work in trenches to ensure the ground is prepped and ready for activities.
• Collaborate with the crew.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What You Bring To The Team

• Previous experience as a pipelayer in a roadway construction environment.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis and stand/walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors and the general public in a courteous, professional manner at all times.
• Maintains a valid Class 5 driver’s license or better.
• Own vehicle to get to and from jobsite.
• Willing to work overtime, as required.
• Must comply with the company's drug & alcohol program, including testing requirement.
