Job summary

Aecon Group Inc. in Calgary is looking for Concrete Finishers to support our 2026 road construction season in Calgary, Alberta.

You will work on forming, finishing and inspecting flatwork to City of Calgary standards, in a collaborative field crew. The role requires 3–4 years of concrete finishing experience, strong tool knowledge, blueprint reading (an asset), a valid driver’s license, own vehicle, willingness to work overtime, and commitment to safety, with adherence to Aecon's policies and

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of concrete finishing experience with city/flatwork
• Knowledge of City of Calgary roads specifications
• Blueprint reading is an asset
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and own vehicle
• Willing to work overtime, as required
• Must comply with drug & alcohol program

Responsibilities

• Clean work site and remove tools, debris, and equipment
• Erecting and dismantling concrete forms
• Follow grade to ensure proper placement of form
• Read grades, curbs, and gutters
• Use hand and power tools safely
• Work collaboratively with crew and assist others as needed
• Attend toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled
• Adhere to Aecon policies and safe workplace practices
• Report incidents and participate in investigations
• Maintain safety for self and co-workers

What Is The Opportunity?

At Aecon, people are at the heart of everything we do. Our Calgary Construction Operations group is looking for Concrete Finishers to support our 2026 road construction season located in Calgary, Alberta.

What You"ll Do Here:

• Clean work site of any tools, debris and equipment
• Erecting and dismantling concrete forms.
• Following grade to ensure proper placement of form.
• Reading of grades, curbs, and gutters.
• Safe use of hand and power tools.
• Work collaboratively with crew.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Behaves in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers, and others on the work sites.
• Reports incidents, injuries, and near misses and participates in the investigative process.
• Assists other employees when required.
• Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
• Adheres to company policies, procedures, and directions regarding standards of workplace behaviour in completing job duties and assignments.

What You Bring To The Team

• Minimum 3-4 years of experience as a Concrete Finisher with city and flatwork experience
• Strong understanding of City of Calgary roads specifications
• Knowledge of hand tools and floats
• A working knowledge of methods, techniques and equipment required to finish flatwork in a variety of finishes
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints is an asset but not required.
• Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to plan and work efficiently and effectively to maximize progress while maintaining safety standards and project specifications
• Maintains a valid Class 5 driver’s license or better.
• Own vehicle to get to and from jobsite.
• Willing to work overtime, as required.
• Must comply with the company's drug & alcohol program, including testing requirement.
