Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods is seeking a Reliability Pipe-Fitter/Plumber to maintain and service equipment at our Hamilton, Ontario facility. The role emphasizes safe plant operations and a safe working environment for all employees.

Qualifications

  • Certification as Steam Fitter/Pipe Fitter (307A).
  • Certified Plumber (306A).
  • 2+ years experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CMMS; SAP knowledge is an asset.
  • Strong emphasis on safety and environmental awareness.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication.
  • Self-motivated with a high sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance work orders and log data in CMMS.
  • Troubleshoot repairs and install pipework upgrades as needed.
  • Complete pipe repairs and maintain hot water, steam, brine and cooling systems.
  • Carry out general plant plumbing for sinks, safety showers and drains.
  • Assist planning with drawings, parts prep and planner feedback.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain piping systems and production equipment (vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic).
  • Read blueprints and diagrams to determine procedures and parts.
  • Collaborate with reliability peers to complete PMs and WOs on schedule.
  • Analyze and improve PMs and WOs in weekly meetings.

Job description

The Opportunity

The Reliability Pipe- Fitter / Plumber will be responsible for maintaining and servicing equipment used in the facility. They will ensure safe plant operations and a safe working environment for all employees.

Hourly Wage: $42.11 Single ticket /$44.12 Dual ticket

Snapshot Of a Day-in-the-Life
  • Conduct planned preventive & predictive maintenance Work Orders and keep maintenance records and enter required information into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • As needed Troubleshoot corrective work repairs and install processing pipework repairs and upgrades.
  • Complete Pipe repairs and system maintenance activities (eg. hot water,steam, brine and cold water systems)
  • General facilities work in the plant with plumbing repairs to Sinks, Eye Wash Stations, Emergency Safety Showers and drain systems as needed to the Waste Water Plant.
  • Assist in planning, organizing of work activities (drawing interpretation, parts preparation) and provide feedback to planners to improve current system of work.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain piping systems and various production systems as needed (eg. vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematic and drawings to determine work procedures and/or order necessary parts and participate knowledge to plant issues.
  • Collaborate with Reliability Peers to ensure that all preventive and predictive routines are completed at predetermined intervals.
  • Continually analyze and improve the state of current PMs and corrective work orders by participating in weekly meetings with supervision.

  • 2+ years experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience with CMMS (computerized maintenance management systems). SAP Knowledge would be an asset.
