Job summary

Metro Vancouver’s Liquid Waste Services is seeking a Pipefitter (O&M) to perform preventative and corrective maintenance at the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant in Richmond. The role requires journeyman-level pipefitting skills for work on sulphur, dioxide and chlorine systems, and associated piping installations.

Candidates must have Grade 12, a Trades Qualification, ability to read plans/blueprints, and be willing to work in enclosed/sewage areas with their own hand tools.

Qualifications

• Grade 12, plus Trades Qualification certificate. Ability to interpret plans and blueprints.
• Ability to work in enclosed and often dirty (sewage) areas. Provide own hand tools.
• Health certificate for watershed entry and valid B.C. Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of pipefitting jobs at the Journeyman level, including refitting and repairs to systems and installation of new ones at treatment plants and pumping stations.
• Measure, cut, thread and install steel, stainless steel, cast iron, PVC and other pipes and conduits; test on completion.
• Directs work of assigned helpers.
• Ensures safe working practices at job sites.
• Plans work methods and procedures following job requirements.
