Job summary

Tritech Group Ltd. is seeking a Pipefitter Apprentice/Laborer to support water infrastructure projects across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. The role combines shop and field work with travel to multiple job sites, performing piping and mechanical tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, inspect, test, and maintain piping systems and mechanical components.
  • Cut, thread, or groove pipes using saws, torches, pipe threaders or benders.
  • Assemble or secure pipes, valves, fittings by welding, brazing, cementing, or threading joints.
  • Ensure installations are properly sized, aligned, and supported.
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials; maintain a clean site.

We are looking for a Pipefitter Apprentice/Laborer to join our team. This is a great role for someone who likes variety in their role, can manage multiple priorities, and likes to take initiative. This is a permanent full-time position with opportunities to further your career.

This role will require travel within the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley regions, a valid license and reliable vehicle are required. All qualified candidates must be eligible to work in Canada without additional sponsorship from Tritech.

Responsibilities

At Tritech, we aim to provide opportunities that are challenging, fast-paced, that effectively utilize the skills of our team members, and provides variety in day-to-day tasks.

The job specific responsibilities for this role includes:

  • Install, repair, inspect, test, and maintain plumping/piping systems and mechanical components of water and wastewater mechanical systems.
  • Cut, thread, or groove pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders or pipe benders.
  • Assemble or secure pipes, tubes and fittings by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints.
  • Assemble and install valves, fittings, and apparatuses required for piping projects.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, anchored, and graded.
  • Install underground process and plumbing piping systems (HDPE, PVC, Ductile Iron, Steel, Copper etc.) ranging from ½” - 60” diameter.
  • Install process equipment (pumps, mixers, blowers, compressors, gates, valves).
  • Inspect, pressure test, and disinfect piping prior to system testing.
  • Observe and apply all Provincial Building, Plumbing, and Natural Gas codes, installation requirements, and other relevant legislation to installations, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Review blueprints, other drawings and plans, and specifications to determine the layout and requirements for piping and related materials.
  • Identify the required tools and special equipment necessary to complete the site and shop project works.
  • Perform various manual labor tasks to support mechanical/civil operations.
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials
  • Maintain a clean worksite by removing unwanted materials from construction sites
  • Assist heavy equipment operators with compaction, loading and moving of fill
  • Install miscellaneous metals (stairs, platforms, handrails, and pipe supports)
  • Work in trenches (shoveling, raking)
  • Coring holes, drilling, grouting, rebar work and prepping forms.
Requirements
  • Reliable transportation, Class 5 driver’s license, and a clean Driver Abstract.
  • Registered 1st to 4th Year Pipefitter or Plumbing Apprentice with Skilled Trades BC
  • The following training and certifications are required before starting employment:
    • Construction Safety Training Systems Certificate (CSTS), or SiteReadyBC Online Construction Safety Orientation Certificate (we will provide this training)
  • Experience working with a variety of hand and power tools and machinery.
  • Experience working on an active construction site, preference is given to those with experience working in water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Enjoy physically demanding work in industrial/construction environments.
  • The following training and certifications are preferred (otherwise, we will provide this training):
    • Confined Space Entry training
    • Fall Protection training
    • First Aid Certificate
  • Experience installing a variety of process piping and plumbing systems (steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC) ranging from ½” -48” diameter is preferred.
  • Experience gluing/joining large diameter PVC pipe is preferred.
  • Must be able to supply steel-toed safety boots and own trade specific hand tools.
