Job summary

PAL Aerospace is seeking a Training Manager for its AMSD team, with locations in Campbell River, BC, Halifax, NS or St. John’s, NL. You will deliver and evaluate pilot training programs, ensuring compliance with CARs and company standards, while mentoring crews and driving performance improvements.

The role emphasizes strong organizational and leadership skills, with opportunities to contribute to program development, safety, and SOP adherence in a dynamic aviation environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience on DHC-8 and/or KingAir.
  • Valid ATPL license is required.
  • Total time of 3,500 hours; 500 multi-engine hours; 1,000 PIC hours.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver, evaluate, and maintain pilot training programs to ensure CAR compliance and approved syllabi.
  • Assess pilot competency through formal evaluations and line checks, providing coaching and feedback.
  • Develop and revise training programs, manuals, and courseware, including new procedures or aircraft.

Operating for domestic affairs agencies, coast guards, fisheries protection, search and rescue, and other public safety organizations, our Airborne Maritime Surveillance Division (AMSD) offers immediate access to special mission aircraft, sensors, and crew.

To support our mission, PAL Aerospace is looking for Training Managersto join our AMSD team in Campbell River, BC, Halifax, NSorSt. John’s, NL where no two days are the same!

The Training Manager is responsible for delivering, evaluating, and maintaining pilot training programs to ensure compliance with company standards, Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), and approved training programs. This role supports safe, standardized flight operations through effective instruction, mentoring, and performance assessment.

Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery
  • Conduct ground school, simulator, and line training for flight crew.
  • Deliver recurrent, upgrade, and initial aircraft type training.
  • Ensure all instruction aligns with Company Operations Manual (COM), SOPs, and approved training programs.
Evaluation & Checking
  • Assess pilot competency through formal evaluations and line checks.
  • Identify training deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide structured feedback and coaching to trainees.
  • Promote adherence to SOPs and operational best practices.
  • Support standardization initiatives across fleets and bases.
  • Participate in training meetings and calibration sessions.
Program Development & Support
  • Assist in development and revision of training programs, manuals, and courseware.
  • Provide input on training improvements based on operational experience.
  • Support implementation of new procedures, aircraft, or regulatory requirements.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all training complies with CARs, company manuals, and approved syllabi.
  • Contribute to the Safety Management System (SMS) through reporting and hazard identification.
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation.
Qualifications
  • Must have experience on DHC-8 and/or KingAir
  • Valid ATPL
  • 3500 hours total time
  • 500 multi-engine hours
  • 1000 PIC hours
  • Instrument Rating
  • Multi-engine Rating
  • Ability to work in a cohesive team environment
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role would be considered an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Effective time management and planning skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of Aerospace operations
  • Experience in document management and developing new procedures
