Latham, the Pool Company, is the largest manufacturer of fabricated pools in North America, Australia, and New Zealand, with over six decades of experience at the center of the backyard lifestyle. Our Canadian operations are expanding with a 170,000 square foot fiberglass manufacturing facility on a 148-acre site in Bath, Loyalist Township in Ontario, Canada! This new facility will enable us to more effectively and efficiently serve markets in eastern Canada, as well as the Northeast and upper Midwest of the United States, producing pools for our fiberglass brands including Latham and Narellan Pools.

Pilot Truck Driver

The pilot driver is required to safely operate a pilot vehicle equipped with warning lights and flags to escort delivery trucks hauling over-dimensional loads on local and provincial highways. The pilot vehicle travels in front or behind the oversized load to warn other road users and uses 2-way communication devices to inform the delivery driver of load shifts or hazards such as narrow bridges, low-hanging trees, lane shifts, parked cars, pedestrians, etc., along the route. The pilot driver is a key team member ensuring the safe delivery of top-quality fiberglass pools to our customers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our delivery team at our new facility.

Requirements:

  • Valid Ontario Class G or higher driver’s license
  • Minimum 3 years of driving experience
  • Clean driving record with driver’s abstract
  • Knowledge of cargo securement, pre-trip inspections, and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) is an asset
  • Excellent customer service skills, as you will represent the company on the road and onsite
  • Detailing experience with boats and/or automobiles is preferred but not necessary
  • Ability to travel for long periods, including some overnight trips
  • Ability to use a smartphone and GPS
  • Mechanically inclined with experience working with hand tools
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, minor blueprints, and plans
  • Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Willing to learn new skills, including detailing or small repairs on pools and possibly assisting in manufacturing during off-season
  • Flexible attitude to adapt to changing work needs
  • Experience working with cranes, yard teams, and moving pools for production and staging
  • Ability to operate pressure washers, caulking guns, electric polishers, and assist with pool detailing and outfitting
  • Ability to work outdoors in all seasons around heavy equipment, cranes, telehandlers, and forklifts
  • During slow periods, assist with facility maintenance or production, including wearing a respirator for pool manufacturing

Wages: $25.07 per hour
