Job summary

Latham Pool Products in Kingston, Ontario is seeking a Pilot Driver to support the safe transport of wide-load fiberglass pools from production to delivery sites. You will assist with loading/unloading, escort oversized loads, and ensure safe clearance from traffic and obstacles in coordination with the AZ Driver, while adhering to company safety standards.

During the off-season, you will assist in production duties as needed, with travel required to meet scheduling and permit requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid Class D driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to operate a standard transmission vehicle.
• Willingness to travel overnight, including multiple nights away from home.
• Ability to read and interpret escort regulations and provincial permits.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, drive long distances, and lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assists in loading and unloading fiberglass pools and related materials following safety procedures.
• Escorts AZ Driver and wide-load cargo per provincial regulations.
• Reads and follows provincial permits for safe escort operations.
• Communicates with the AZ Driver about traffic flow, hazards, and route conditions.
• Maintains a clean, presentable pilot vehicle (interior and exterior).
• Secures and ties down pool loads as required.
• Maintains current certifications as per provincial requirements.
• Completes annual defensive driving training.
• Adheres to DOT and provincial safety standards.

Job Summary

A little about the position:

he Pilot Driver is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient transport of wide-load fiberglass swimming pools from production to final delivery sites. This role assists with loading and unloading activities, escorts oversized loads to designated destinations, and ensures safe clearance from traffic, obstacles, and environmental hazards by working closely with the AZ Driver and follows escort requirements outlined by provincial permits while adhering to all company and transportation safety standards. During the off-season. the Driver works in production, assisting in a variety of duties.

Some Of What You Will Do

• Assists in loading and unloading fiberglass pools and related materials in accordance with safety procedures.
• Escorts AZ Driver and wide-load cargo following all provincial and local escort regulations.
• Reads, understands, and follows provincial permits for safe escort operations.
• Communicates effectively with the AZ Driver regarding traffic flow, hazards, obstacles, and route conditions.
• Maintains a clean, presentable pilot vehicle (interior and exterior).
• Properly secures and ties down pool loads as required.
• Maintains current certifications for all provinces requiring pilot/escort driver credentials.
• Successfully completes annual defensive driving training.
• Adheres to all company, DOT, and provincial safety standards.
