Job summary

Johnson Controls’ Canadian subsidiary is seeking a Picker to accurately select and stage material orders, load/unload, and move products within the warehouse and plant locations. You will verify orders, document transactions, and support inventory accuracy while following safety standards.

The role requires ability to operate material handling equipment, teamwork and strong communication, with attention to quality and timely task completion in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment including forklift truck.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Effective time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, and move products and materials by hand or equipment.
  • Sort and package fabricated parts onto a cart according to the subassembly list and deliver to point of use in the plant.
  • Verify subassembly counts and report discrepancies to the fabrication area.
  • May perform inventory; weigh/check materials as needed.
  • Pick orders and prepare for shipping, including stacking, wrapping, and crating products.
  • Select materials from the warehouse for outbound orders, inspect for defects and ensure quality.
  • Put away received materials to proper storage locations.
  • Confirm inventory transactions are complete.
  • Participate in clean-up of yard and facility.
  • Adhere to Silent-Aire safety program standards and Alberta OH&S Act, Regulations and Code.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Overview

The Picker is responsible for accurately selecting and staging material orders, updating records in spreadsheets, and handling the loading, unloading, and movement of products and materials to designated warehouse and plant locations. The Picker also verifies incoming orders and ensures all inventory transactions are properly completed and documented.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Load, unload, and move products and materials by hand or equipment.
  • Sort and package fabricated parts onto a cart according to the subassembly list and deliver to point of use in the plant (manually or with equipment).
  • Verify that subassembly counts are accurate and meet a visual quality inspection, and report any discrepancies to the fabrication area.
  • May perform other activities such as assisting in taking inventory and weighing/checking materials.
  • Pick orders and prepare for shipping, including stacking, wrapping, and crating products.
  • Select materials from the warehouse for outbound orders, inspect for defects and ensure only high quality items are shipped.
  • Put away received materials to proper storage locations.
  • Confirm inventory transactions are complete.
  • Participate in clean-up of yard and facility.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
  • Exercise caution, as the environment presents many naturally occurring hazards.
  • Always adhere to safety policies (wear protective equipment).
  • Employee may be exposed to uncomfortable work settings such as cold or hot weather outdoors; may have combinations of standing, crouching, or sitting throughout the day.
  • Must have the physical ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • Fast-paced environment.
  • Overtime as required.
