Physiotherapy Assistant (Kemptville/Prescott)

We are currently seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in Kemptville/Prescott, Ontario. Under the supervision of a Physiotherapist, the assistant will work closely with residents to implement treatment plans and help achieve their health goals.

Schedule

• 37.5 hours per week

Job Duties

• Assist with and lead group or individual exercises as directed by the Physiotherapist.
• Support residents in reaching their treatment goals when appropriate.
• Document treatments and progress following each session per Physiotherapist’s instructions.
• Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transfers.
• Monitor and report changes in residents’ health status to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
• Perform treatments such as applying ice or hot packs, ultrasound therapy, TENS, hot wax, etc.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Physiotherapy Assistant program or equivalent.
• Strong multi-tasking and ability to work under pressure.
• Effective communication skills with elderly residents, supervisors, and team members.
• Experience in Long Term Care or Retirement homes is an asset.
• Current police check for Vulnerable Sector.
• Valid 2 STEP TB Test and/or Chest X-Ray.
• Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license (position not accessible by bus).
• Resident of Kemptville/Prescott area; relocation is not considered as this is a temporary position.
