Job summary

UHN is seeking a Physiotherapist to join the Spinal Cord Rehab Program at the Toronto Rehab Institute - Lyndhurst Centre. This part-time role involves patient education, assessment, treatment, and collaboration within an interdisciplinary team to improve spinal cord injury rehabilitation outcomes.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s in Physiotherapy, Ontario licensure, and at least 2 years in neuro rehab; spinal cord experience and NDT/Bobath certification are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Science (Physiotherapy) or recognized equivalent based on Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
  • Active registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and ability to practise without restriction
  • Minimum two (2) years related experience in neuro rehab preferred
  • Experience in spinal cord rehab preferred
  • Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
  • NDT/Bobath certification preferred
  • Experience with wheelchair provision preferred
  • ADP Authorizer preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
  • Experience with electronic charting (e.g. EPIC) beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Role encompasses a range of duties such as patient education, assessment, and treatment, while also extending to the dissemination of knowledge to patients, their families, and colleagues within the team.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrating adeptness in fostering productive connections throughout various tiers of personnel and roles within an interdisciplinary team, along with a readiness to adapt to a versatile work timetable, while upholding a service ethos centeredaroundclients and an advisory demeanor.
  • Awareness of factorsimpactingthe safety of patients, residents, employees, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Designing and adapting patient treatment plans.
  • Engaging in continuous professional growth, including active participation in relevant committees.
  • Contribution to service planning andtimelycomprehensive completion of clinical documentation and workload statistics.
  • Engaging in training and oversight of students and volunteers, alongside cooperative efforts with peers, while actively engaging in the facilitation of student education.
  • Participation in Inter-professional Rounds and committees.
  • Involvement in clinical evaluations.
  • Contributing to the advancement of professional practice and services.
  • Willingness to provide coverage in various areas of the organization as needed.

Position Summary

The Physiotherapist (PT) is an integral member of the Spinal Cord Rehab Allied Health Team. Through the provision of patient and non-patient care activities, the PT enhances the quality of life of patients by planning and implementing individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative clinician with a passion for SCI rehabilitation, who values teamwork and is committed to supporting colleagues, including assisting with patient coverage as needed.
