Job summary

Alberta Health Services seeks a Physiotherapist I (PT) to deliver therapeutic interventions aimed at restoring maximum function and independence in clients with various conditions. You will engage clients and families as part of a health-care team, and collaborate across interprofessional teams to improve rehabilitation outcomes.

You will participate in quality improvement, peer mentoring and may supervise students and Therapy Assistants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
  • Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
  • Master's degree in Physiotherapy or related experience.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to perform lifts and physically demanding tasks.

Your Opportunity:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or a bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Proficient problem-solving skills, including analytical thinking and conflict resolution/negotiation, are required. Effective written, verbal, communication, and computer skills are required. Strong and effective leadership skills, as well as organizational skills are required. The successful incumbent will be capable of performing lifts, transfers, repositioning, and other physically demanding activities associated with this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Connect Care (electronic medical record) is considered an asset. Experience in leading or coordinating services and teams, while working closely with interdisciplinary team members is ideal. Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is an asset.
