Under the general direction of the Program Manager, the Physiotherapist provides assessment of assigned clients and develops and implements individual and group physiotherapy treatment programs. The Physiotherapist is accountable for maintaining the Standards of Practice and Ethics of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. The Physiotherapist will provide clinical education and experience for allied health students and participate in formal teaching and research in collaboration with Queen’s University or other institutions. As a team member, the Physiotherapist participates in discipline-specific and inter-professional activities that promote a client-centered environment and contribute to quality, operational efficiency, professional, and program development.
Skills and Qualifications Required
- Graduate of a recognized school of Physiotherapy
- Active, unrestricted license to practice with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
- Experience in the specific area of practice is preferred
- Experience in student supervision is an asset
Position Responsibilities
- Utilize evidence-based practice and best practices
- Use outcome measures to guide clinical decision-making
- Review medical referrals
- Perform appropriate evaluation/assessment
- Participate in inter-professional care planning, team, and family conferences
- Provide physiotherapy education and counseling for clients, families, and caregivers
- Share newly acquired knowledge and skills with physiotherapy staff
- Participate in physiotherapeutic education for other health professionals, community groups, and agencies
Note: Duties may vary according to practice location. Physiotherapists may be required to provide weekend coverage.
