Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Physiotherapist to plan, deliver, and evaluate care for patients across community, ambulatory, and institutional settings. The role collaborates with families and an inter-disciplinary team to maximize function and participation, aligning with Indigenous safety and equity commitments.

The successful candidate will hold CHCPBC registration, have a valid driver’s license, and contribute to program quality initiatives and research within the organization.

Responsibilities

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Within the context of a patient/client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, the Physiotherapist plans, delivers, evaluates and provides care coordination to address the needs of the patients/clients and families experiencing physical impairment and acute/chronic disease within community, ambulatory and institutional settings. Collaborates with family members or significant others, inter-disciplinary team members, educational resources and other health care professionals/providers to address the client’s functional/ physical/ social/ cognitive/ perceptual/ environmental needs to maximize capabilities, community participation, recovery from or adaptation to illness/impairment and achieve excellence in health services and education. The Physiotherapist may occasionally provide case consultation support to other Physiotherapists, work support to designated support staff on the team. Contributes to the organization and the delivery of physiotherapy services by participating and supporting the Operations Manager in program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research and education. QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience Current full registration as a Physiotherapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).Valid Driver’s License and use of personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed.

• Basic knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to designated program/area.
• Basic knowledge of physiotherapy standardized tests and measures.
• Broad knowledge of physiotherapy theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
• Ability to provide work direction and/or training to designated support staff and foster a respectful work environment.
• Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
• General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
• Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
• Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
• Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
• Demonstrated ability to function as an effective team member.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and empower clients to assume control over their health.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients both one-on-one and in groups.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
