Position Overview

VHA's Physiotherapist is responsible for providing physiotherapy consultation, assessment, and planned interventions for diverse client groups across Southern Ontario and the Capital region, referred through VHA Rehab Solutions and Champlain Rehab Solutions. The physiotherapist will work within a continuous quality improvement framework aligned with VHA’s vision and mission, promoting good public relations with clients, staff, volunteers, and partners.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assess clients using interviews, standardized, and informal assessment techniques according to professional guidelines.
  2. Implement client interventions based on assessments, client input, and care plans.
  3. Ensure services are evidence-based, best practice, and evaluated through routine outcome measures.
  4. Participate in client meetings to report assessment findings, discuss intervention plans, and provide progress and discharge updates.
  5. Coordinate care through ongoing communication with the client’s team regarding intervention plans and schedules.
  6. Document all assessments, treatment plans, progress, and discharge summaries as required by the profession and organization.
  7. Prepare statistical records of client care and related activities for relevant authorities.
  8. Adhere to the code of ethics and standards of practice of the Ontario College of Physiotherapists.
Required Qualifications
  1. Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution.
  2. Registered and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
  3. Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in community settings.
  4. Specialized courses supporting clinical expertise.
  5. Ability to provide a variety of physiotherapy interventions.
  6. Knowledge of community care resources and requirements.
  7. Strong consultation and teaching skills, utilizing evidence-based practice.
  8. Experience with valid and reliable outcome measures to support interventions.
