ICAN INDEPENDENCE CENTRE AND NETWORK

ICAN is a community-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing services and resources for individuals living with permanent physical disabilities, post-stroke conditions, and older adults.ICAN provides assistance to live independently and inclusively in the community through individualized support and rehabilitation services.

JOB SUMMARY :

ICAN is currently seeking a Registered Physiotherapist to join our team in a permanent role, approximately 50 hours per month. The Physiotherapist will provide client-centered rehabilitation services within ICAN’s supportive housing and community-based programs. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-directed, experienced professional seeking flexibility and purpose-driven work in a collaborative environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct client assessments and develop personalized physiotherapy treatment plans
  • Provide direct physiotherapy services to enhance mobility, independence, and functional outcomes
  • Collaborate with ICAN’s interdisciplinary team, including rehabilitation support staff and other health professionals
  • Educate clients, caregivers, and staff on mobility, exercise, and safety strategies
  • Maintain professional records and documentation in accordance with regulatory standards

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred, ideally in community-based or rehabilitation settings
  • Experience working with clients with physical disabilities and / or post-stroke conditions is an asset
  • Must operate as an independent contractor and carry valid professional liability insurance
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and clinical reasoning skills

ENGAGEMENT OPTIONS

This position offers flexible engagement based on candidate preference :

  • Independent Contractor : Must provide services through your own business and carry valid professional liability insurance
  • Part-Time Employee : Join ICAN’s team with employee insurance coverage provided

Hours and compensation will be discussed based on the selected engagement model and availability.
