FACULTY OVERVIEW:

As Canada's only polytechnic university, Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is the fourth largest university in the province of British Columbia and serves communities in the South Fraser region and beyond. Within KPU, the Faculty of Science has over 1,500 full-time students and over 200 faculty members and instructors from across the natural and applied sciences. The Faculty of Science offers experiential learning through hands-on curriculum, co-ops and research collaboration opportunities with KPU's Institute for Sustainable Horticulture (ISH), Institute for Sustainable Food Systems (ISFS), and Applied Genomics Centre (AGC). As well, our faculty is home to over a hectare of horticulture field lab, a working farm and a state-of-the art teaching brewery, which has been recognized internationally and locally, winning BC Brewery of the Year in 2019.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Physics Department from the Faculty of Science is currently seeking applications for one instructor to teach 100% FTE, from Sep 1, 2025 until Aug 31, 2026.

The successful candidate will be required to teach Introductory Physics (PHYS 1100, 1101, 1120) and/or Astronomy courses (ASTR 1100, 3110) in fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Our classes are primarily taught in person and offered between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The successful candidate must be willing to teach courses at both the KPU Surrey and Richmond campuses; however, they will not be required to travel between the two campuses on the same day.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful candidates will possess, at a minimum, a Master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Physics (or related field) with demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate physics and/or Astronomy courses at the post-secondary level. The successful applicant must have excellent written and oral communication skills in order to teach effectively in English. In addition, experience with online instructional delivery will be an asset.

*SALARY INFORMATION:
Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.
