Job summary

Klinic Community Health is a pro-choice community health centre delivering primary care, education and counselling in Manitoba. This part-time physician position supports the Trans Health program with client-centred care and a commitment to social justice in a diverse community.

The role emphasizes collaboration with nurses, practitioners and staff, adherence to Klinic’s guidelines, and active participation in training and service development to improve quality of care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized school of medicine.
• Currently registered or eligible with CPSM for practice in Manitoba.
• Active CMPA membership.
• CCFP or comparable transgender health certification.
• Interest/experience in community-based medicine and social determinants of health.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centred care in Trans Health program.
• Collaborate with inter-professional teams and participate in case conferences.
• Develop and facilitate in-service education.
• Document accurately and timely in patient records and clinical databases.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call service.

Position Summary

Physicians providing services in the Trans Health program provide client-centred care to Klinic clients. Physicians uphold Klinic’s vision, mission and values and collaborate with inter-professional teams to provide non- judgmental, excellent client care. Physicians will bring with them a deep commitment to an anti-oppressive approach to care and be open to learn from their clients on the clients’ journey. Physicians will practice with humility and understand their own social position in comparison to their clients.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized school of medicine
• Currently registered or eligible to be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM) for practice in Manitoba
• Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
• Current certification of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) or comparable professional medical certification appropriate for practice in Transgender Health
• Interest and/or experience in community-based medicine and the Social Determinants of Health
• Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (additional language skills would be an asset)
• Pro-choice
• Willingness and ability to work with individuals of diverse gender identities/ expressions and sexuality preferences
• Able to communicate appropriately cross-culturally

Responsibilities

Care

• Provides Gender Affining health care in a community setting, in accordance with Klinic’s Transhealth guidelines (based on WPATH 8th edition).
• Collaborates with Primary Health Care Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants and other Klinic staff
• Participates in case conferences
• Participates in the development and or facilitating in-service education
• Documents accurate and pertinent client information in a timely manner, including maintenance of medical bands
• Charts appropriately, legibly and according to Klinic policies
• Knowledge of emergency procedures
• Communicates effectively with all health team members to ensure client health needs are met
• Participates in after-hours and weekend on call service as part of Klinic’s Physician Call Schedule

Program/Agency

• Participates in the supervision and evaluation of students in the Health Services
• Establish, review and update clinical protocols
• Attends staff meetings;
• Assists in the development of health information resources;
• Assists in program development;
• Records daily statistics as required;
• Assists with orientation, training and supervision of new staff and students;
• Participates in training courses and in services offered elsewhere and by Klinic in order to maintain and improve quality of service;
• May be required to perform other duties and functions related to this job description but not exceeding above stated skills and capabilities

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

• Work environment consisting of an office building
• Moving between different workspaces during shifts
• May be required to move items weighing up to 12 kg
• May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients and visitors
• May be required to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends

SALARY RANGE

$149.78 per hour
