Job summary

Job description

General Internal Medicine Specialists, in our region, work out of four hospitals in the Calgary Zone as well as the Richmond Road Diagnostic and Treatment Centre. The scope of practice includes working on the medical teaching team, supervising both undergraduate medical students, postgraduate residents, and general internal medicine fellows. Other services include working on the non-teaching, general internal medicine service, consultation service, perioperative medicine clinics and ambulatory medicine clinics as well as the Department of Medicine COVID units. An on-call rota is established, by hospital site, and may require in-house coverage.

Qualifications :

The successful candidate will require subspecialty certification in General Internal Medicine by the RCPSC (R5 or equivalent), as well as focused training in one of : point of care ultrasound, perioperative medicine, hypertension, quality improvement and / or thrombosis. Academic achievements in medical research or medical education would be an asset. Internal Medicine specialty certification (R4) could be considered depending on the candidate's experience and education.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
