Job description

Position Overview

Calian is currently seeking physicians to work at the Central North Correctional Centre.

Working within an interdisciplinary health care team, the Physician will provide primary care medical services to marginalized and diverse populations within an Ontario correctional facility. This facility houses male and female inmates with complex health issues such as urgent, acute, chronic care, addiction and mental health issues.

Responsibilities will include performing physical examinations, reviewing and documenting health records, diagnosing and treating chronic and acute injuries and mental illness. A focus on collaboration with health team leads, specialists and community health providers is key in this role. Your knowledge will contribute to evolving healthcare best practices.

We are seeking physicians who can work regular weekday clinics (4 hours each) up to full-time hours. Offering a premium hourly stipend, plus 100% OHIP billings of a busy clinic schedule.

Qualifications

  • Registered for Independent Practice in Family Medicine with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • Malpractice insurance coverage with CMPA
  • Valid OHIP billing number
  • Physician must be able to provide Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) as per CPSO guidelines.
  • Experience in withdrawal and addictions treatment (methadone/suboxone)
  • Experience treating patients from marginalized and diverse populations
  • Experience treating patients with mental health concerns
  • Experience providing urgent or acute care
  • Experience managing chronic and complex care
  • Experience managing infectious diseases

Additional Requirements

  • You must be able to obtain a Ministry of Ontario Security Clearance (which includes obtaining a new Vulnerable Sector Police Check)
