Overview and Purpose of the Role
The Physician Assistant (PA) functions as an unregulated physician extender who integrates the CanMEDS (2015) roles of medical expert, communicator, collaborator, leader, health advocates, scholar and professional to provide optimal, ethical and patient-centered medical care. The physician assistant works under the direct and indirect supervision of a physician to provide safe, timely and effective care to patients in the Clinics including (but not limited to) the specialties of Primary Care, Geriatrics, and Gynaecology with a defined patient population.
The PA uses knowledge, skill and judgement and established competencies in a clinical area to provide assessment and treatment to patients as delegated by the supervising physician. The PA works as part of the interprofessional team in close collaboration with all team members to provide holistic and patient-centered care.

Schroeder Ambulatory Centre is a non-profit medical facility dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Ontarians through accessible, outpatient healthcare. Opening in late 2025, the Centre will offer a comprehensive range of clinical, diagnostic, and surgical services in alignment with its mission to reduce pain, improve mobility, and streamline healthcare delivery.
