Overview

The Calgary Zone Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is recruiting for a 1.0 FTE Physician Assistant (PA) at the Foothills Medical Centre to work with the Section of Urogynecology. Under physician supervision, the PA will provide medical, post-operative and intra-operative care (surgical assisting) to patients with pelvic floor conditions, working to full scope of practice. This position is based within a collegial team of Urogynecologists, Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM, and involves assessing patients, creating and communicating care plans, performing consultations and follow-up (in-person and virtual) in clinic, wards and Emergency Room, inpatient rounding post-operatively, and assisting in the Operating Room for urogynecologic surgeries. The PA will also teach medical students, residents, and PA learners, maintain ongoing professional education to meet CAPA and patient care requirements, foster strong working relationships with team members, and, when appropriate, provide additional services under physician supervision within clinical competence. All work follows AHS policies and procedures. The Section of Urogynecology aims to welcome a PA as a valued member of the care team to elevate care and liaise with community physicians and organizations to ensure continuity of care.

  • Additional Required Qualifications: Demonstrated skills; competency in women’s health history and physical examination; excellent communication; family-centered, trauma-informed, and collaborative approach; ability to maintain effective relationships with multidisciplinary teams; ability to perform basic procedures in women’s health (e.g., speculum exam, Foley catheter insertion through cervix, POCUS).
