Physician Assistant

Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine PC (GLO) is a multi-specialty group with three locations in St. John, Crown Point, and Lowell, Indiana. We offer patients compassion, innovation, and quality care throughout Northwest Indiana and beyond. We are seeking a full-time Orthopedic Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work independently with physician oversight and an experienced support staff.

If you have compassion and a passion to help others, this role offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients, their families, healthcare providers, and office staff while providing high-quality direct patient care in a clinical setting. You will assess and treat patients of various age groups, diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, and prescribe medications as appropriate. Responsibilities include:

  • Formulate diagnoses based on assessments conducted within the clinic setting.
  • Examine and diagnose patients, and develop treatment plans.
  • Document treatment plans in the EMR.
  • Collaborate with physicians and document guidance as needed.
  • Coordinate patient care.
  • Perform inpatient and outpatient consultations.
  • Assist Orthopedic Surgeons during surgeries.
  • Provide comprehensive and ongoing medical care for patients.

Initiate requests for laboratory tests and x-rays as appropriate. Prepare and document histories, physical examinations, and diagnoses. Prescribe medications as needed.

Requirements

To be considered, applicants must meet the qualifications listed below:

  • Physician Assistant license from Indiana.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Two years of relevant clinical experience preferred; recent graduates will be considered.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, team members, and management.
  • Ability to make independent care decisions based on best medical practices.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records and internet research for clinical practice.
  • Advanced assessment and treatment planning skills.
  • Ability to perform clinical care activities, including lifting, in a provider office environment.
