Summary

Responsible for supporting the PT / PTA in their daily productivity. Assists with supervising patients during exercises, applying hot / cold packs, electrode removal, and providing general support to therapists.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in treating all patients except Medicare under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
  • Ensure paperwork is co-signed by a Physical Therapist.
  • Assist Physical Therapists with assessing patients' readiness to return to sports.
  • Use modalities and soft tissue work, including massage, as recommended by a Physical Therapist.
  • Follow policies and procedures regarding vacation, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Complete required documentation and billing within recommended time frames.
  • Instruct patients and their families professionally and effectively.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including laundry, to facilitate quality patient care and efficient operations.
  • Recommend appropriate supplies and equipment.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Participate in staff meetings and continuing education programs approved by the Clinic Manager.
  • Handle conflicts with co-workers or patients appropriately, using effective communication techniques and involving management when necessary.
  • Propose solutions to concerns or issues.
  • Maintain positive behavior with internal and external customers.
  • Adapt to changing environments and various locations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and clinic information.
  • Strive to achieve goals and improve quality of care.
  • Communicate with doctors regarding patient status or treatment questions in a timely manner.
  • Handle incoming calls, obtain caller information, and forward or take messages.
  • Greet patients and visitors professionally, providing information and assistance.
  • Schedule appointments, order supplies, maintain the waiting room, perform typing, and assist with report generation and other clerical duties.
  • Assist PT, PTA, ATC with preparation and cleanup of evaluation rooms and gym, including maintenance of contrast baths, ice cups, hydrocollator, and removal of e-stim patches and cold packs.
