General Description:

A physical therapist provides services to patients/clients with impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or loss of a body part. They plan and administer physical therapy treatment programs to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part. Physical therapists at HMH may treat hospital in-patients, out-patients, and/or provide consultative services to contracted agencies.

Work Experience/Requirements:
  • One year experience and/or student affiliations in acute in-patient and/or outpatient services.
Education:
  • Graduate from an accredited professional physical therapist education program by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) with a current license to practice in Massachusetts.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers (BLSHP) required within the first 90 days of employment if not assigned to the Southbridge campus.
