Physical Security Officer - East Lansing, MI

The Physical Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the security and safety of the credit union’s employees, visitors, and facilities across multiple locations. This position monitors security systems, controls access to buildings, responds to alarms and incidents, and provides direction and assistance as needed. The role is crucial in maintaining a secure environment by enforcing security policies and responding to concerns professionally and promptly.

Work Arrangement

This position is onsite at our Headquarters in East Lansing, MI.

Schedule

40 hours per week, with a consistent schedule within our Standard Hours of Operation. Includes rotation of Saturdays and occasional evenings for events. Standard hours : Monday-Thursday 7 : 00am - 5 : 30pm, Friday 7 : 00am - 6 : 00pm, Saturday 9 : 00am - 1 : 00pm.

Employment contingent upon work arrangement and location. Changes to work setup or employment location may not be accommodated.

• Starting at $18.00 / hour, dependent on experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Roles are divided into levels :

• Physical Security Officer I : Service to members and visitors, monitor security systems, respond to alarms, enforce access control, conduct security rounds, assist with security procedures, document incidents, ensure policy compliance.
• Physical Security Officer II : Assist with training, investigations, and reporting of security concerns.
• Senior Physical Security Officer : Lead investigations, act as incident command, oversee documentation, support other officers, and deploy as needed.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in law enforcement, military, security, or similar preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required or ability to obtain.

All levels must demonstrate communication, adaptability, problem-solving, planning, collaboration, and other core skills. Functional competencies include process and system knowledge, service orientation, conflict resolution, critical thinking, resilience, initiative, documentation, and attention to detail.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Stationary for extended periods, operate office technology, move inside / outside, exposure to hazards, lift up to 50 pounds, onsite presence required.
