Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) is seeking a Physical Exercise Specialist to lead reconditioning programs for Canadian Armed Forces members. You will train adults, improve functional capacity, and support health-promotion initiatives in collaboration with a professional multidisciplinary team.

The role requires a relevant degree, CSEP-CEP or ACSM-equivalent, CPR/NLS, and experience in education delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences or related field.
  • Current Certified Exercise Physiologist (CSEP-CEP) or ACSM-equivalent.
  • CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications with NLS as required.
  • Experience developing, implementing and delivering physical fitness programs.
  • Experience delivering adult education and facilitating workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Lead reconditioning programs for military personnel to improve functional abilities.
  • Deliver and adapt physical fitness training sessions.
  • Support Health Promotion partners with educational programs and events.
  • Assist in professional development for local teams and practitioners.

THE ROLE

Supporting and working alongside the members of the Canadian Armed Forces and actively preparing them to defend and serve our country could be your path to an extremely fulfilling career.

As part of a dynamic and dedicated team, as the Physical Exercise Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work with a very highly motivated and professional clientele who are eager to return to duty and improve their condition. Daily, you will lead reconditioning programs for Canadian Armed Forces members who may be affected with a medical condition and improve their functional abilities related to their physical limitations.

Being a subject matter expert in your field, you will support your local team with training and professional development. You will assist Health Promotion partners promoting healthy practices and injury prevention through initiative such as educational programs, special events and other activities related to physical fitness.

Much like the military we so proudly support, we push the envelope of what’s possible. Working with us, you’ll have the opportunity to deliver programs and services in collaboration with a highly professional team of health services practitioners. Other stakeholders will be at your disposal to ensure a client’s successful return to duty.

Qualifications Needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences or in a related field
  • Current Certified Exercise Physiologist (CSEP_CEP). A candidate possessing an equivalent CSEP-CEP certification from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) may be considered.
Current CPR And Basic First Aid Qualifications
  • Current National Lifeguard Service Certificate (NLS) qualification, as required
Experience
  • In developing, implementing and delivering physical fitness programs
  • In preparing and conducting physical fitness training sessions
  • In communications for professional and public audiences
  • In the delivery of adult education and facilitation of workshops
  • In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
Competencies

Other Information
  • As part of the selection process, candidates will undergo a physical fitness test (FORCE Evaluation) and must achieve a minimum level of Bronze.
  • This is an on‑site position with an assigned work location.
  • The anticipated term of this position is 10 months.
  • START DATE: September 2026
