Job summary
Dream Photonics is a Vancouver-based deep-tech startup creating PICTOR, a 3D-printed photonic platform for high-performance optical interconnects. We seek a Photonics Engineer, R&D, to build simulation workflows and develop 3D-printed couplers for PICs, lasers, and fibres, collaborating across engineering teams in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics, Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics or related field.
- 3+ years of experience designing photonic components, PICs, or related optical systems.
- Experience with PICs, lasers, optical fibers, and photonic devices.
- Proficiency in Python for data handling, automation, and analysis.
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation methods (FDTD, beam propagation, ray tracing).
- Proficiency with GDSII layout tools (KLayout, L-Edit) and foundry PDKs.
Responsibilities
- Develop simulation workflows for PICTOR lenses for lasers, PICs and fibre.
- Design 3D-printed couplers and PIC coupling interfaces.
- PIC layout for development of PICTOR couplers.
- Author technical documentation: test plans, SOPs, reports.
- Collaborate with packaging and design teams for product iterations.
- Present R&D summaries and design results to stakeholders.
- Ensure designs can be tested, manufactured and integrated into products.
