Job description

Reporting to the NPH Production Manager, the Photographer is responsible for providing high-level coverage of events by capturing photos of teams, players, game action, and the overall event atmosphere. Applicants must own a DSLR camera (or similar) with appropriate lenses for sports and portrait photography, and a laptop for photo editing and graphic design.

Deliverables include photos, online albums, and Player of the Game headshots. Media Correspondents will work directly with the Creative Director and Production Manager to execute and roll out content.

The Photo & Design Correspondent is expected to follow and promote our philosophy of: 1. Lead yourself, 2. Support your team, 3. Execute tasks.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Photograph game action across all courts.
  2. Coordinate with Game Operations to capture team photos and Player of the Game photos.
  3. Uncover creative ways to cover the league, players, teams, and community.
  4. Manage and post on social media accounts.
  5. Grow the following and overall audience reach of select NPH social media accounts.
  6. Participate in weekly marketing meetings, reporting on past activities and upcoming goals.
  7. Analyze content performance through platform analytics to improve engagement and growth, listening to community feedback.
  8. Work closely with other departments to understand organizational operations and build relationships.
  9. Serve as a subject matter expert in all elements related to Canadian basketball.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Marketing, Media, or related education preferred.
  • Proficiency in photography and design software (e.g., Lightroom).
  • Basic understanding of sports photography concepts.
  • Creative framing of photographs.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • General understanding of basketball dynamics.
  • DSLR camera or similar with lenses.
  • Laptop for photo editing.
  • Strong understanding of target audiences.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects across brands.
  • Team player with interpersonal skills and a passion for basketball.
  • Availability to work in-person and online, with willingness to travel for events.
