Philanthropy Officer, Special Events

About Covenant House Vancouver

Since 1997, Covenant House Vancouver has provided relentless support for youth experiencing, or at-risk of experiencing, homelessness. We support young people aged 16 to 24 who have faced various forms of trauma, including abuse and neglect. Our mission is to serve all youth with respect and unconditional love, helping those experiencing homelessness and providing a safe, supportive environment.

The Impact of the Philanthropy Officer, Special Events:

This role involves building and managing relationships with individuals and organizations involved in our signature Sleep Out events. Responsibilities include relationship building, communication, stewardship, event attendance, and administrative duties. The role requires collaboration with colleagues, community partners, and businesses, maintaining CRM databases, strategizing fundraising efforts, and supporting event logistics, guest experience, and volunteer engagement.

How You Will Contribute:

Relationship Management & Communications

  • Recruit and communicate with Sleep Out participants through various channels, including phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Develop a pipeline for Sleep Out participation through prospecting, outreach, and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with the philanthropy team to recruit from existing portfolios.
  • Create personalized invitations and communications, sharing fundraising tips and event updates.
  • Attend evening and weekend events, including public speaking, to engage and steward participants.
  • Respond to participant inquiries regarding event logistics and fundraising pages.

Event Logistics & Administration

  • Support event planning, including critical paths and run-of-show.
  • Administer event platforms like Luminate TeamRaiser, including registration and reporting.
  • Manage CRM data, tracking actions, proposals, and relationships.
  • Coordinate staff, volunteers, and logistics on event day to ensure success.
  • Assist with other fundraising and engagement events.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years in fundraising, donor relations, or event management.
  • Post-secondary education or relevant certification is an asset.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Luminate software preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Our starting salary range is $53,198.60 – $66,502.80 per year. Full benefits are available after three months of employment.
