Job description

What is the opportunity?

RBC Family Office Services is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Philanthropic Advisory Specialist to provide strategic advice and guidance to HNW and UHNW clients in developing their family philanthropic and legacy plans. You will play a crucial role in championing the RBC Charitable Gift Program and shaping its strategic vision, aiming for continued growth, improved client experience, and acting as a voice of philanthropy within RBC Wealth Management Canada. Collaborating with RBC Wealth Management advisors, you will understand clients' philanthropic goals and provide tailored solutions.

What will you do?
  1. Strategic philanthropy wealth planning for HNW and UHNW individuals and business owners.
  2. Self-source new philanthropy wealth planning engagements through in-person and virtual activities such as branch and client event presentations, and building relationships with Centers of Influence (COIs) and RBC advisors.
  3. Review clients' current situations, considering their short- and long-term goals, and develop philanthropic strategies leveraging your knowledge of Canadian tax rules and issues specific to privately owned entities, entrepreneurs, and high net worth individuals.
  4. Deliver customized memos or PowerPoint presentations summarizing strategies for clients to share with their external advisors to facilitate implementation.
  5. Identify emerging trends in philanthropy and the national donor advised fund landscape, contributing to the development of RBC CGP's strategic vision aligned with Wealth Management Canada’s mission, values, and goals.
What do you need to succeed? Must Have
  • Fluency in both French and English for supporting or collaborating with diverse clients and colleagues.
  • University degree.
  • 10+ years of related experience in areas such as accounting, tax law, wealth planning, or philanthropy.
  • Strong knowledge of charitable giving strategies, issues, and trends.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills to build trusted partnerships.
  • Ability to collaborate across a global matrix organization.
  • Flexibility to travel locally and across Eastern Canada as needed.
Nice to Have
  • Professional designation (e.g., CPA, LL.B, JD, TEP, MFA-P).
  • Master’s Degree in Tax or completion of CPA In-depth Tax Course Levels I-III.
  • Understanding of responsible investing and social impact of investing.
