Job description

Quatre Recursos Humanos is supporting a partner in Canada, searching for

Machine Learning Researchers – Boltzmann and MCMC

Machine Learning Researcher – Quantum computers

PhD in EE / Comp Eng / Computer Science with strong math, probability, and statistics background.

Our client develops hardware aimed at maximizing computing speed, with over 110 U.S. patents, more than 70 peer-reviewed papers, and over 170 million dollars raised. Their investors include Goldman Sachs and Bezos Expeditions, with partnerships involving Google and NASA. They focus on exploiting quantum resources that offer significant computational speedups for certain problems. Their quantum annealing computer samples from probability distributions and optimizes functions that are intractable for classical hardware. This machine's native operation resembles a sparsely-connected restricted Boltzmann machine, similar to architectures that have driven recent advances in deep learning, used in products like speech recognition and image search. The research team is leveraging these parallels to accelerate learning in deep, hierarchical neural networks.

Position: The Machine Learning Researcher will collaborate with experts in machine learning and quantum computation to design and implement novel algorithms utilizing their quantum computer. Responsibilities include developing and testing algorithms, investigating their properties, and refining their design. This role offers innovative research opportunities in a collaborative environment, with researchers encouraged to pursue their passions and publish their findings.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with machine learning experts to design, implement, and optimize algorithms.
  • Design experiments to evaluate algorithm performance.
  • Develop high-quality prototypes using Python, Matlab, or Julia.
  • Apply best practices in software engineering: design patterns, version control, testing, documentation.
  • Work with diverse technical teams to incorporate their expertise into software projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, or physics.
  • Experience with statistical methods in machine learning, especially probabilistic models, Boltzmann machines, and MCMC techniques.
  • Proven success applying machine learning to practical problems.
  • Strong coding skills, with preference for Python, Matlab, or Julia.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, flexible, with excellent problem-solving skills.
