Job description

Custom Fabricators & Machinist’s non-destructive testing (NDT) department is seeking Phased Array Technicians to join their team in Halifax, NS. The role involves setting up and calibrating non-destructive testing (NDT) equipment, conducting tests to ensure quality, and detecting defects using various NDT methods. Technicians will be responsible for establishing examination techniques, adhering to safety regulations, and reporting test results, making it essential for candidates to have a strong technical background in NDT methods and procedures.

Qualifications
  1. Education: Diploma in Welding Engineering Technology
  2. Certifications: NDT Level II UT, PCN or CGSB Phased Array Certification
  3. Skills: Strong attention to detail, exceptional safety and quality awareness, ability to maintain positive relationships with co-workers and clients, and physical ability to perform the job.
  4. Experience: Technical background in NDT methods and procedures with three years phased array experience.
  5. Demonstrated Ability: Effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret results of inspections.
  6. Knowledge: Knowledge of NDT equipment.
Responsibilities
  1. Set up and calibrate non-destructive testing equipment.
  2. Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
  3. Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
  4. Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
  5. Organize and report test results.
  6. Perform specialized inspections.
  7. May instruct and supervise others.
  8. Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management.
