Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) seeks a casual Pharmacy Technician to support the Outpatient Pharmacy at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, with potential cross coverage at Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, and Shoppers Drug Mart. Responsibilities include assisting pharmacists, dispensing, compounding, and maintaining pharmacy operations.

Requires completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician program and registration (Part A) with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program from an accredited college or recognized equivalent.
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of client relations in collaboration with pharmacists.
• Assist pharmacists with prescription dispensing tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare or compound extemporaneous products under supervision of a pharmacist.
• Support maintenance and operation of Outpatient Pharmacy services.
• Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required.

Department: Outpatient Pharmacy

Reports to: Manager

Wage Range: $32.32 to $37.26 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with collective agreement requirements)

Hours: Varies

Status: Casual

Closing Date: November 15 , 2026

Duties

• Working in conjunction with pharmacists in maintaining high standards of client relations
• Assisting pharmacists in accurately and efficiently performing all technical aspects relating to prescription dispensing responsibilities
• Preparing or compounding extemporaneous products using appropriate techniques under supervision of a pharmacist
• Performing activities relating to the maintenance and operation of Outpatient Pharmacy services
• Performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required

Requirements

• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college or recognized equivalent required
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to learn and troubleshoot changing technologies/machinery
• Two years practical and related experience preferred
• Previous hospital experience with unit dose system and intravenous admixture service, preferred
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job
