Duties
- Perform all dispensing functions independently according to departmental procedures and NAPRA Standards.
- Conduct final technical checks of products following departmental processes and OCP standards.
- Replenish Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM) and utilize the Pneumatic Tube system for distribution.
- Serve as Pharmacy Courier for standard delivery times as required.
- Supply "pass" medications.
- Implement changes based on daily census (transfers, discharges).
- Prepare daily cartfill medications.
- Complete all associated documentation and workload statistics.
- Supply ward stock and medications following established procedures.
- Prepare and deliver sterile products, including I.V. admixtures, TPN solutions, chemotherapeutic solutions, parenteral syringes, and other sterile products as required, adhering to CSHP and departmental standards.
- Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and workload tracking for all sterile products.
- Maintain inventory control by keeping adequate stock levels and accurate counts at all times.
- Supply nursing units with ward stocks of Narcotic and Controlled drugs via ADM, following departmental procedures.
- Maintain sufficient crash cart supplies throughout the hospital.
- Place purchase orders and manage the return of expired pharmaceuticals.
- Use barcode scanning for pharmaceuticals according to departmental/hospital procedures.
- Perform all duties within the pharmacy drug budget constraints.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and well-stocked with dispensing and manufacturing aids.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program approved by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacy Technician.
Skills
- Mathematical skills necessary for pharmacy practice.
- Attention to detail for accurate medication dispensing and order entry.
- Strong writing skills for clear, concise communication, including analytical reports and summaries.
- Effective verbal communication skills, with the ability to relate well and adapt communication style as needed.
- Organizational and prioritization skills.
Ability
- Ability to maintain professional relationships, interact pleasantly and responsibly in person and on the phone, demonstrating tact and courtesy.

- Proficiency with computers, printers, fax machines, and pharmaceutical software.
- Familiarity with the operation of laminar flow hoods, analytical balances, syringe pumps, packaging equipment, and other drug distribution equipment.
