What you will do:
- Distribution duties including tasks such as bin filling, repackaging, wardstock, computer work, and best possible medication history;
- Sterile compounding (IV admixtures), hazardous and non-hazardous;
- Non-sterile compounding, hazardous and non-hazardous.
About our team:
At The Ottawa Hospital, our cohesive team of dedicated professionals, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants, and support staff, is dedicated to delivering compassionate treatment to both inpatients and ambulatory care patients. We prioritize patient safety by promoting and implementing advanced medication practices while remaining actively engaged in teaching and research. Pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants play a pivotal role in the team and are responsible for all elements of drug distribution, as well as assisting with drug research studies and documenting medication histories of patients.
Training and orientation:
For 6-8 weeks you will engage in a comprehensive training and orientation program where you will be immersed in a live environment, working collaboratively with our experienced pharmacy staff and other healthcare experts to achieve patients' healthcare goals while maintaining continuity of care. You will experience the benefits of learning from institutional experts who are also practicing pharmacy professionals. You will acquire knowledge, skills, and abilities in critical competency areas, including communication, health promotion, intra- and inter-professionalism, knowledge application, legal and ethical duties, patient care, product preparation, and safety. Our collective mission is to ensure you complete the training period with a well-rounded skill set and the confidence to excel in your role as an integral member of our pharmacy team.

Rotation/Shifts
Days, evenings, and nights, including weekends, 8 hour shifts.

What You Will Bring
- Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with OCP;
- Experience working with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications;
- Knowledge of purchasing and supply management;
- Ability to perform final medication verification before dispensing to patients;
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Eligible to work in Canada.
You will stand out with:
- Proficiency in English and French - oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
