Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy, including the receipt, preparation, dispensing, documentation, and disposal of study drugs in accordance with study protocols, company policies, and regulatory guidelines. This role ensures the timely and accurate completion of all pharmacy-related tasks to support clinical trial operations.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Review study protocols to identify specific pharmacy requirements prior to preparing documentation or dispensing medications.
- Receive, prepare, and retain study drugs in compliance with protocols, regulations, sponsor instructions, and applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate the procurement of reference drug products or other products required by the study.
- Collaborate with the Project Management and Business Development teams regarding study drug shipments, discrepancies, disposition, and retention.
- Train and supervise staff assisting with drug dispensing and reconciliation.
- Maintain pharmacy policies and procedures in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and internal SOPs.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and organized completion of all assigned tasks within the Pharmacy.
- Enforce restricted access to the Pharmacy area to ensure compliance and security.
- Review SOPs as required and ensure the alignment with GCP / ICH, FDA, and Health Canada (TPD) regulations.
- Conduct pharmacy tours and orientations as needed.
- Maintain pharmacy equipment and accurate records of use and maintenance.
- Attend clinical meetings and participate in training sessions as required.
- Provide regular reports to upper management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program from Ontario.
- Ontario College of Pharmacist Registration.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible in changing shifts or hours as required by study schedule.
