Job summary

Alberta Health Services at Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I to join an inpatient pharmacy team operating 24/7. You will handle preparation, distribution, and dispensing of medications, work with sterile and non-sterile products, and support clinical care through accurate medication handling.

The role requires completion of a CCAPP-accredited program and ACP registration, with overnight shifts and a casual/relief employee class.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
  • Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • RAH Pharmacy operates 24/7 and the position includes overnight shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products.
  • Receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medications, and prepare sterile and non-sterile products.
  • Dispense prescriptions and ward stock; support clinical care and problem-solving; mentor staff and students.

Your key responsibilities include, drug preparation, repackaging, and final product checks, dispensing individual patient prescriptions and ward stock, supporting clinical care through problem-solving and discrepancy resolution, mentoring new staff and students through training and orientation, collaborating across disciplines to improve outcomes and processes. You will gain a breadth of experience while working with a dedicated, interdisciplinary team. Your strong communication skills both verbal and written alongside your interpersonal strengths, organizational abilities, and computer proficiency, will be vital in this role. Your continued proactive approach while building strong relationships and collaborating with all members of the healthcare team is paramount to the continued success of our team and culture. Must be able to withstand long periods of sitting, standing and walking as this role requires daily IV room work and medication prep, dispensing, and packaging for delivery.

Description

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.
